What does it mean to #FINISHCANCER?
It began with a desire to show the how of finishing cancer - research and breakthrough treatments, clinical trials and a singular bench-to-bedside model that puts patients first. And the who: researchers and oncologists, radiologists and navigators, patients, and the legions of supporters who rally around their family members and loved ones. First, in Oregon. Then Alaska. Eventually, Washington and California, too. Providence’s longest-running campaign - and arguably, its most successful - is about sharing the intimate, moving and inspiring stories of patients, providers and supporters who are working in concert to help finish cancer.

#FINISHCANCER OREGON
Connect. Engage. Give.
A years-long campaign that has spanned four states and countless communities, #FINISHCANCER tells the stories of patients and supporters, physicians and activists, all of whom are working together to help finish cancer.
Man on the Street
What does it take to finish cancer? This was the question that launched a script that led to a day-long shoot at the Portland Farmers Market in downtown Portland, Oregon, where we engaged with all manner of folks to help us formulate a collective, community-inspired answer. We put out a casting call ahead of time and worked on set to ask thoughtful questions - to get thoughtful answers. And real, unscripted emotion.
#FINISHCANCER ALASKA
In the great state of Alaska, where finding good healthcare often means traveling a distance to get it, Providence wanted the community to understand they could get exceptional care - care they’d find in the Lower 48 - right at home.
We traveled to Anchorage, Alaska, twice - once in winter, and again in summer - to capture the stories of survivors and supporters, and shoot on location to tell the remarkable story of community involvement and spirit around #FINISHCANCER.
#FINISHCANCER is built on real stories from real people in their respective communities.

#FINISHCANCER: A movement
In 2015, Providence Cancer Center - now Providence Cancer Institute - sought to share with the public its role in cancer treatment and care. Its local competitor had long been seen as the premier research institute in town. But Providence, unbeknownst to many, was hard at work in the lab developing breakthrough treatments with decades of research and conducting clinical trials that were changing the face of cancer care.
And so we developed a campaign for Oregon that brought patients, providers, researchers and supporters together for a singular purpose: to inspire others to join the fight.
